CHRISTMAS PARTY - Dec 2025
A record number of over 100 Members arrived at Springfield House on the 10th December, including 10 new members since 2024. The invitation was 12pm for 12.30pm, but the majority arrived at 11.45am or earlier – not out of character! If you arrive ‘on time’, you are late!!
The Manor, set in 5-acres of meticulously manicured gardens, is an ideal setting for this number of people – a sunny and bright room. While mingling on the patio we were served bubbly, or a non-alcoholic drink, and canapes. Hats off to the wait-staff for managing to get food and drink to this many hungry people.
The traditional 2-course Christmas lunch, with either red or white wine (or non-alcoholic), proved to be absolutely delicious.
During the meal, at appropriate intervals, various games and activities took place.

The ‘pass-the-parcel’ compere, Christine J, explaining which is your left hand!

Christine J narrated a “Left/Right” Christmas story where a box of chocolates was passed backwards and forwards around each table causing much confusion and laughter.
The Christmas quiz was considered too hard with the highest score being 5 out of 12 – achieved by two tables making it necessary to have a tie breaker to decide the winning table.
As the meal drew to a close Leo lead us through the song, “12 Aussie Days of Christmas - Westleigh Probus style" that bordered on ‘Adult Only’. The verses included one Koala up a gum tree, two kangaroos, three snot blocks (apparently Australian slang for a vanilla slice). Diane R was heard to say that she used to love vanilla slices, however, will never eat another one! Then on to four snags from Bunnings, five lamingtons, six bogans, seven Sharks, eight magpies, nine mozzies, ten tree frogs, eleven quokkas and twelve Probus Meetings. Each of the 12 tables was allocated a verse that had to be sung in correct sequence. This proved a challenge for our musical director, Peter N. Prizes were issued for, dare I say it, no comprehensible criteria.
Our special thanks go to Diane, Graham, Margaret and Jean for all the effort they put in in planning the day.
There's no doubt that everyone had a wonderful time, and we're looking forward to next year's lunch, possibly with new games!
