CHRISTMAS WINE AND CHEESE - Dec 25
The last Probus event for 2025 was the Christmas wine and cheese hosted at the Wynne’s home, as has been the tradition for many years.
The evening began beautifully as guests sipped their drinks, savoured the nibblies and began to engage in conversation about their plans for the Festive Season and hopes and aspirations for 2026 – basically chit-chat!
However, the heavens had other things in mind such that it began to rain lightly which forced guests to seek cover. But the rain did not dampen spirits (pardon the pun) and the evening continued with much laughter and fun.
During the evening, we were spoilt with perfectly sizzled sausages on sliced bread (2 types available!) thanks to Martin W’s exceptional culinary skills, and ably helped by Barry J.

And the winner is Jenny with the hypnotising 'light bulb necklace'

One of the highlights of the evening/year had to be the competitions for best ‘Christmas’ dressed. Many of the men wore tragically bright Christmas shirts, but one stood out like a carbuncle…. John I won the best dressed male, with Bjorn H a close second. For the women, however, it was fairly clear who the winner would be – Jenny C! The combination of Jenny’s ‘lights’ outfit, complemented by her sparkling personality, made her a shoe-in.
Unbelievably good fruit mince tarts and Christmas cake hand made by Pauline W cleansed the palette as the evening closed.
Many thanks to our December hosts Martin and Pauline W. As always, it was yet another unforgettable Christmas wine and cheese.
