KELLYVILLE TO ROUSE HILL via CADDIES CREEK - May 26

On a damp and drippy morning, 4th May, 26 brave souls caught Metros and trains to Castle Hill for coffee at the Delisse café, before catching a further Metro to Kellyville to start our ‘great walk’.

On our way, the heavens opened and the rainy weather remained with us for the whole walk, only clearing up as we stopped for lunch at the end!  Ironically this walk was originally scheduled for August 2025 but was cancelled due to inclement weather.

It was a short walk, only about 4.2 kms, mostly flat, following Caddies Creek from Kellyville Station to Rouse Hill station.  It would have been an ideal opportunity to see how the city planners have left recreational space and wildlife corridors in the middle of our urban sprawl, except that we kept dashing for shelter!

Despite the dampness, most people enjoyed it and quite a few asked for it to be rescheduled so we could do it again in the dry. As a consequence, the ‘walks’ leader is looking to maybe doing it again next January or February on a fine, clear day of about 40 degrees C!

Rather bedraggled, they marched on!!

The picnickers wisely chose to give the picnic a miss, and the majority of the group ended up in one of the multitude of eateries in Rouse Hill shopping centre.
