Early on the morning of 15th May, 39 excited Probus members boarded our coach for our tour of Wangaratta, Bright and the beautiful surrounds. Our first meal stop was the Serviceman’s Club in Yass for lunch. That’s when the first complaints started. Too much food!! It’s hard to convince our generation that it’s OK to leave food on your plate.

 

We enjoyed beautiful weather and scenery for our entire time away, with a slightly wet trip home. Our accommodation in Wangaratta was world class and the service and meals were extraordinary. Our coach driver was very patient and accommodating and keen for us to see everything on the itinerary, plus anything else we wanted, if at all feasible.

 

The autumn colours were at their peak and our local guide in Bright knew the name of every species we drove past. Just beautiful.  We also had a very knowledgeable and articulate guide in Beechworth. Most of the local gardens we saw in the area were beautifully kept and graced lovely old homes with smoke spiralling from their chimneys.

 

It was a great getaway, with a chance to meet new members and get to know one another better. Some of us were able to explore parts of our wide brown land that we’d not seen before. I like to think that the trip embodied all the elements of Probus - Friendship, Fellowship and Fun.
