MUDGEE TRIP
In May 2021 our first trip since the Bravo cruise in late 2019 took members on a trip to Mudgee in Central Western NSW.

Day 1 - after a morning tea break at Leura we stopped for a viewing at Echo Point before heading off for a most delicious sandwich lunch at the Zig Zag motel at Lithgow. A further 2-3 hours of driving saw us arrive at Mudgee where we settled into our resort-style motel on the edge of town.
Day 2 - our first full day of sightseeing saw us head off to the Honey Haven just outside of town. Delicious! Next was to the Gooree Park Horse Stud and Winery. After a fascinating tour of this immense and spectacular site, we were treated to a delicious lunch with rolls c/- of the local bakery, all washed down with some very light and delicious local wines. And all of this was topped off by our first experience of the mouse plague affecting large parts of our state.

Day 3 - a full day out to the Hill End historic site, where gold was discovered in the mid 1800's. It was here that the Statrt of Hope nugget was found. At the time of its discovery, this was the largest item of reef gold ever found.

Day 4 - another big day, this time to the beautiful Mayfield Gardens near Oberon. Words cannot begin to describe the unbelievable beauty of this place in the Spring. The pictures below cannot do the place justice.

Day 5 - after a morning of sightseeing around Mudgee, including the local museum, we were taken to the Blue Wren Cellar Door for a wine tasting and lunch. We then continued on to Gulgong where, after a brief introduction to the town, we were given time to explore on our own. Again, this place is well worth another visit.

Day 6 - homeward bound. With stops at Bowenfels for morning tea and the Springwood Bowling Club for lunch, we reached Westleigh in mid-afternoon ready in time to put on a load of washing!
